Hello residents of LaSalle,
It has been quite a busy month in the Town of LaSalle. Just last week Members of Council attended the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference in Ottawa.
We had the opportunity to speak to provincial cabinet ministers during the conference. One to the Minister of Sport to share LaSalle’s recreation program success and priorities. The other, is the Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Infrastructure. It was an opportunity to talk about future development of LaSalle.
Yesterday, August 29, the Town held a Fight Like Mason Foundation flag-raising ceremony to mark the beginning of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place in the month of September. On Wednesday, September 4, a ceremony to raise the Childhood Cancer Awareness Flag will be held at the Town of LaSalle Civic Centre at 12:00 pm. The flag-raising is organized by Childcan: The Childhood Cancer Research Association. All are welcome to attend.
Free swimming continues into September at the LaSalle Outdoor Pool on Front Rd. at Laurier Dr. Recreational swims take place Saturday, September 7, 14, and 21, between 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A big thank you to Essex Powerlines for sponsoring free swims all summer long. Visit the LaSalle Outdoor Pool page on our website for registration information.
The August LaSalle Night Market was another lively and energetic event. Even with the location change on the day of the market due to potential storms in the forecast. The Event Centre offers a large open space perfect for transforming into a marketplace and many other types of events. Don’t miss the last summer series LaSalle Night Market on Sunday, September 29 at this location from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Tickets are selling quickly for Last Call before Fall. Don’t wait too long to get yours. LCBF takes place at the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing on September 6 and 7. Close out the summer with live music, regional wines, craft beer, premium spirits, and delicious local eats. Purchase tickets through the Last Call Before Fall page.
Municipal Offices and the Vollmer Centre will be closed for Labour Day on Monday, September 2. We wish everyone a fun long weekend! Please remember to drive with caution as kids head back to school next week.
