Hello residents of LaSalle,
Monday, September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. To honour the children who survived residential schools and remember those who did not, many Canadians across the country will wear an orange shirt on this date. Let’s take time to reflect on the survivors, their families, and communities affected by residential schools. Many activities are taking place across Windsor-Essex County.
On behalf of Council, congratulations and happy retirement to Joe Polatto and Chris Ruthven in our Public Works Department. Thank you for 25 years of service, Joe, and 19 years of service, Chris. We wish you all the best!
At the Monday, September 23, LaSalle Police Service Board meeting, Chief Duncan Davies was celebrated with a retirement farewell presentation. We as a community are grateful for the chief’s commitment to the Town of LaSalle and our residents.
Chief Davies was presented with a certificate from Prime Minister Trudeau and from MPP Anthony Leardi on behalf of Premier Doug Ford in recognition of his contributions.
The Franco-Ontarian Flag was raised on Wednesday, September 25, in the Town of LaSalle by students from Monseigneur A. Caron. This ceremony honours the achievements made by Ontario’s Francophone community. It brings awareness to the positive impacts on Ontario’s history and its people.
