Hello residents of LaSalle,
I am happy to say that my wife, Mary, and I received our COVID vaccine at our local pharmacy. When you have the opportunity, please register for your vaccine. You will reduce your risk, the risk to others and help put an end to this pandemic.

Retirements
Fire Chief Dave Sutton retires on April 1 with more than 35 years of dedication to the fire service. Chief Sutton started his career in 1986 as a Volunteer Firefighter with the Sandwich West Fire Department. He climbed the ranks with LaSalle Fire Service becoming the Deputy Fire Chief in 2008, Acting Fire Chief in 2011 and LaSalle Fire Chief in 2012.
Chief Sutton has led LaSalle as our Community Emergency Management Coordinator, and has been very busy recently between COVID and flooding. He has been instrumental in LaSalle’s Emergency Operations Centre and in leading our team with integrity.
At the March 23 Regular Meeting of Council, we officially appointed Ed Thiessen as Fire Chief effective April 1. We also welcome Deputy Fire Chief Rick Malott to LaSalle.
In addition, Deputy Police Chief, Kevin Beaudoin, announced his retirement effective March 26. We thank Deputy Chief Beaudoin for his 32 years of policing service in LaSalle.
Small Coast Project
With this period of consultation for the Small Coast Waterfront project coming to a close, administration is compiling a report with the feedback. An update will be presented at the April 13, 2021 Regular Meeting of Council. Our meetings can be watched on the Town’s YouTube channel.
Retail Cannabis Stores
At the March 23, Regular Meeting of Council, we approved administration’s report to opt-in to hosting retail cannabis stores. The Clerk will let the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) know that this resolution has been passed. The AGCO has established a set of standards for cannabis retail stores, and Public notice is required to be given for an application that is submitted to the AGCO. For more information about the process that the AGCO uses when they receive these applications, please visit agco.ca
