A Message from Mayor Marc Bondy

October 16, 2020

Hello residents of LaSalle,

I was pleased to attend an announcement made this morning at the future site of the new regional acute care hospital. Windsor Regional Hospital now officially owns the land located at County Rd. 42 and the 9th Concession. They are moving forward with Stage Two of their planning process.

Remembrance Day

The Town recognizes the importance of honouring our Veterans. Due to COVID-19 and the provincial gathering restrictions, we will not be hosting  a public Remembrance Day Ceremony this year.

We will host a small ceremony with a few invited guests, and we will stream the ceremony on the Town of LaSalle Youtube channel on November 11 at 11 am.  We encourage you to take part by watching the ceremony online. We appreciate your cooperation to ensure the safety of everyone.

In addition, a page on the Town’s website has been launched to recognize Veterans through personal stories and photos. In 2020, we are focusing on those who served in World War II  to mark the 75th anniversary of the end of the war.

Small Coast Waterfront Experience

At the October 13 Regular Meeting of Council, we unanimously supported administration’s report to move forward with the waterfront project.

This means that our team will move forward with plans to implement Phase 2A and 2B, will take steps to implement a financial plan, and will proceed with public consultation. Public consultation will be starting in the next couple of weeks., and we look forward to hearing from you.

Mondays with the Mayor

I will be available on October 19 between 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm. If you would like to talk, please call me at 519-969-7770, ext. 1233. Calls will be answered in the order that they are received. If that time doesn’t work for you, please make an appointment.

Essex Power

We have received your comments about the hydro outages, and have been in contact with Essex Power. They are constantly monitoring the system and making necessary adjustments. Things like animal interference and weather will still affect the power grid.

Second Wave of COVID-19

As the Province has declared a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, please follow the advice of our health officials:

  • stay home if you are sick,
  • wash your hands often or use an alcohol based hand sanitizer,
  • wear a face covering in public buildings,
  • stay apart from others, and
  • personal indoor gatherings of no more than 10 people, and outdoor gatherings of no more than 25 people.
