Commissioning of Documents

Commissioning Services During Covid-19

If you wish to have a document commissioned, you must book an appointment in advance by calling 519-969-7770 ext. 1262. You will be asked screening questions over the phone when the appointment is made. Only 1 person will be allowed to come into the building for the appointment, unless otherwise necessary. You are requested to bring your own pen to the appointment.

Commissioning of Documents

The Town provides the services of a Commissioner of Oaths for Town of LaSalle residents during regular business hours. The Commissioner is able to witness signatures of certain documents. A $10.00 fee is charged per document.

All parties required to sign the document must be present and must provide valid photo identification in order to have a document commissioned.

We reserve the right to refuse commissioning services of any document.

A document that is in any language other than English will not be commissioned as we cannot validate the information.

Notary public

A Commissioner of Oaths is not the same as a notary public. A Commissioner has authority to administer oaths and take affidavits. A notary public has a much broader authority. If your document requires notarization or you need certified copies of documents, please contact a lawyer or a notary.
