Howard/Bouffard Master Drainage Study

Update March 31, 2020

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this project is being delayed.  Work still continues on this project, but at a much slower pace.  In any event, once the project resumes, all involved (residents, property owners effected and the public) will be advised as public meetings resume and/or are arranged, finalization of the report, council meetings, etc. with respect to this project.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The Howard/Bouffard Master Drainage Study will provide for a long term solution to the drainage for existing and developed conditions in the Howard/Bouffard planning area.

The Town engaged the services of Dillon Consulting in July 2018 to complete this study.  This study involves the Town and the Essex Region Conservation Authority.  The purpose of the study is to identify the existing drainage conditions in the Howard/Bouffard planning area and how development will occur in this area so that storm drainage will be conveyed to appropriate outlets.

As the study progresses, the Town will engage with residents, stakeholders and the public to shape the overall master drainage study and contribute towards the preferred solutions and recommendation identified in the plan.

Existing Conditions Mapping (Milestone 1)

As part of this project, the first milestone was to develop the existing conditions mapping under the 100 year event.  The 100 year existing conditions map is now available to be reviewed.  Notice is also provided advising that this information is now available publicly through the website.

Public Information Center 1

The Public Information Center 1 (PIC 1) has been scheduled.  The PIC 1 notice is available for viewing.  Please join us in viewing all the work completed to date on this project.  We are also seeking your input to the various solutions once presented at this PIC to help inform and guide this project to it's final recommended outcome.     

The PIC 1 display boards are now available for viewing and download from the website.  Comments are to be submitted by July 15th 2019.  The June 26, 2019 comment sheet is also available for downloading. 

Public Information Center 2

The Town has reviewed the feedback received from stakeholders following the PIC #1 held on June 26, 2019.  Based on the feedback received, refinements have been made to the recommended solution.  A second PIC, PIC #2 Notice, has been arranged and will focus on the revised recommended solution including the rationale and additional information for stakeholder review.

PIC 2 display boards are now available for viewing and download from the website. Comments are to be submitted by January 31th, 2020.  The December 12, 2019 comment sheet is also available for downloading.
