Message from Mayor Meloche - July 12, 2024
Hello residents of LaSalle,
The Regular Meeting of LaSalle Council this past Tuesday was Chief of Police Duncan Davies last Council Meeting. On behalf of the entire community, we extend our deepest gratitude to him for his years of dedicated service with the LaSalle Police Service. His leadership, integrity, and unwavering commitment to keeping our streets safe have left a mark on our Town. We wish him all the best in his well deserved retirement.
Chief Designate Michael Pearce will begin his role as Chief of Police on July 29. The selection committee was impressed with his vision for enhancing public safety, strengthening community relations, and implementing innovative strategies to address the evolving challenges facing law enforcement today. I look forward to working closely with him to ensure the safety and well-being of our community.
Many of the scheduled activities taking place in LaSalle this summer started a couple of weeks ago. Here are some unscheduled ways to enjoy the outdoors and stay active in LaSalle.
LaSalle Trails
Many of our trails offer some reprieve from the hot summer sun by offering places to step into the cool shade of trees. Check out Brunet Park for some ‘off the beaten path’ sections of trail that offer coverage that can help make your time outdoors a little bit cooler. Use our LaSalle Active Living Map to help find all the trail and park locations around town.
Canoe and Kayak Docks
Canoe and kayak paddlers can find launch docks available at Vince Marcotte Park, north of the pedestrian bridge over Turkey Creek, at the Vollmer Complex retention pond, Riverdance at LaSalle Landing waterfront, and River Canard Park (bring your own equipment).
LaSalle Dog Park
If you are looking for a place to allow your dog to run and play off-leash with the company of other dogs, visit the LaSalle Dog Park. The park is open year-round during daylight hours and is located south of the Town of LaSalle Public Works Department within the Vollmer Complex Property.
LaSalle Parks
There are over twenty parks throughout LaSalle. Park amenities include outdoor tennis and pickleball courts, playgrounds, basketball courts, soccer fields, splashpad, outdoor pool, and more. Take turns visiting them all throughout the summer.
LaSalle Council Meetings
The next regular meeting of LaSalle Council is Tuesday, July 23. Join us in person or watch along on the Town’s YouTube channel. Looking for a previous meeting? You can find them on YouTube.
