Extended Heat Warning

Environment Canada has issued an extended heat warning from Saturday, June 21 to Wednesday, June 25, 2025. An extended heat warning is issued when three consecutive days are forecasted to have a daytime high temperature greater than or equal to 31°C and a nighttime temperature greater than or equal to 21°C or a humidex greater than 42°C.  

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reminds us that the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, and people working or exercising outdoors. Drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place. Never leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle. Warning signs of heat-related illness include dizziness, headache, nausea or vomiting, weakness, and confusion. If you experience any of these symptoms, seek immediate medical attention. Check on friends, family, and neighbours frequently during heat events, and even after the weather cools off, as they may still feel the effects of the heat. 

During high heat days, the Town of LaSalle reminds residents that the Vollmer Centre, LaSalle Civic Centre, and LaSalle Branch of the Essex County Library are air-conditioned buildings and can provide some relief from the heat. The following are hours that these facilities are open: 

Vollmer Centre – 2121 Laurier Parkway 

Monday to Friday 6:00 am to 10:00 pm 

Saturday/Sunday 7:00 am to 8:00 pm 

*Please note that the Vollmer Complex is closed to the public on Wednesday, June 25 and Thursday, June 26 for staff training.

The Splash Pad - Vollmer Complex is open daily from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm and is free to use. 

LaSalle Civic Centre/Essex County Library – 5950 Malden Road 

Monday to Friday - 8:30 am to 8:00 pm 
Saturday - 9:00 am to 5:00 pm 
Sunday - Closed
