Message from Mayor Meloche - February 14, 2025

Hello residents of LaSalle,

February is Black History Month, and the theme for 2025 is "Black Legacy and Leadership: Celebrating Canadian History and Uplifting Future Generations." This theme acknowledges the diversity of Black Canadians, highlights the importance of Black leadership, and celebrates the legacy being built for future generations.

Canadians are encouraged to learn more about Black Canadian communities and how they continue to shape the country. Visit Canada.ca/black-history-month for more information.

Matchett Road Bridge

The Matchett Road Bridge over Turkey Creek project began this week. The project will repair the bridge and upgrade the sidewalk to a multi-use path, and it will be completed in two stages.

From now until early April, there will be narrow lanes and occasional lane closures, so please expect delays. During April and May, the bridge will be fully closed, meaning no vehicles or pedestrians will be able to cross.

Please follow the posted detour routes, and expect the project to be completed by June. Please refer to Public Works projects for updates.

Family Day

Monday, February 17, is Family Day! The Vollmer Centre has recreational swims, skating, and drop-in sessions available. Registration is recommended, visit LaSalle Active for more information. Enjoy your time with your friends and family!

Winter Tips for LaSalle

The Town of LaSalle reminds residents to stay safe this winter season. Our Public Works crews begin snow removal on the main roads, followed by residential streets. Here are some things you can do to help our public works and emergency services teams during and after a snowfall event:

  • Remove vehicles/sports equipment from the road
  • Clear catch basins of snow/ice
  • Keep fire hydrants clear
  • Keep municipal sidewalks next to your property clear
  • Place garbage cans/recycle bins in the driveway, not on snow banks/road

For more information, visit the Winter Maintenance page on our website. We appreciate your patience in keeping roads and sidewalks safe this season.

Interim Tax Billing

The due dates for the interim tax bill are Friday, February 28 and Friday, April 25. There are many payment options available. For details visit the Property Taxes web page.
