Message from Mayor Meloche - January 31, 2025
Hello residents of LaSalle,
This week has been an exciting one for the Town of LaSalle!
Second Fire Station
The second fire station at 2190 Front Road officially opened on Sunday, January 19, 2025. The new facility is fully operational.
We are planning an open house to take place this spring, to give residents the chance to tour the new facility. We will share details as plans become available. For more information visit the Three Fire Station Model web page.
LaSalle Police’s First Polar Plunge
Congratulations to the LaSalle Police Service on a tremendous success hosting the first-ever LaSalle Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Ontario! An original goal of $10,000 was set and surpassed, with 140 jumpers raising over $51,000.
Jumpers included myself, Councillor Jeff Renaud, Chief of Police Michael Pearce, and Deputy Chief of Police Jason Woods. We look forward to next year for an even bigger and better event!
Senior Active Living Centre Grant
On Friday, January 24 we welcomed MPP Anthony Leardi to the Vollmer Centre for a special announcement. We were successful in a grant application for a Senior Active Living Centre Grant of $55,000 on behalf of Minister Cho and the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility.
This improved accessibility will enable us to expand activities for seniors in LaSalle across three different locations; the LaSalle Civic Centre, the Vollmer Complex, and the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing. This aligns with our goal to provide more opportunities for seniors to stay connected and enhance their overall wellbeing. Stay tuned for new free and low-cost programs scheduled to begin in April.
Summer Student Hiring
The Town of LaSalle has begun the summer student hiring process. Positions include Public Works and Planning and Development. In early February, positions at the Vollmer Complex will become available. Visit the Employment web page for more details.
Mayor on Location
I will be at the Vollmer Centre on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.
Whether you're attending the Vipers game, taking part in a class, or enjoying other activities, come by and say "Hello!" I'll be in the lobby, talking with residents. This is a great opportunity to ask questions or share your thoughts about LaSalle. I’m looking forward to hearing from you!
