First Time Voting? It's Easier Than You Think.
Online voting is open for the 2026 LaSalle Municipal and School Board Election, and if this is the first time voting, it’s easy to get involved.
Municipal elections help decide who will make decisions about things that affect everyday life in LaSalle, including parks, recreation programs, roads, community spaces, events, and local services.
Eligible voters can vote online using any computer, tablet, or smartphone from home, school, work, or anywhere with internet access. Voting is available 24 hours a day until 8:00 pm on Monday, October 26, 2026.
"Voting is one of the simplest ways to make a difference in your community. Local elections decide who will make important decisions about the community for the next four years, " said Jennifer Astrologo, Director of Council Services. "For first-time voters, this is an opportunity to be part of that process, make their voice heard, and help shape the future of LaSalle."
Voting isn't just about casting a ballot. It's also about learning about the people running for office. Take a few minutes to read the candidate information on the Town's election web page to see what issues matter to each candidate and how they would like to help shape LaSalle's future.
To vote online, electors need a Voter Information Letter (VIL), which contains the personal identification number (PIN) needed to access the voting system.
Residents and students who did not receive a VIL by mail or who need assistance can visit the Voter Help Centre , where Town staff are available to help with the following:
- Update voter information
- Obtain a Voter Information Letter
- Receive assistance with the online voting process
To make it easier to access election services at the Voter Help Centre, LaSalle Transit Route 25 will be free for all riders on Friday, October 23, and Monday, October 26.
A person may vote in the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election if they are:
- A Canadian citizen
- At least 18 years of age
- A resident of the Town of LaSalle, or a non-resident who owns or rents property in the Town of LaSalle, or whose spouse owns or rents property in the Town of LaSalle
- Not prohibited from voting under the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 or otherwise by law
Attending school away from home? A person may be able to vote in two municipal elections if they:
- Live in one municipality while attending college or university, and
- Have a permanent home in another municipality.
After casting a ballot, voters will have the opportunity to complete a short survey about their voting experience. Feedback will help the Town continue to improve election services and support voters in future elections.
