Mayor Crystal Meloche of Lasalle Elected to the 2026-2028 AMO Board of Directors

At the 2026 Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference, Mayor Crystal Meloche of Town of LaSalle, was elected to the AMO Board of Directors, representing the Small Urban Caucus.

More than 3,000 municipal leaders and delegates attended the sold-out Conference, held August 16–19 in Ottawa. The Conference also included more than 750 delegation meetings between municipal representatives and the provincial government.

As a member of the AMO Board, Crystal Meloche will help set AMO’s policy direction and advance the priorities of Ontario’s 444 municipalities.

“Hundreds of municipal governments from across Ontario benefit from their membership in AMO. At the same time, their contribution and commitment to working together makes all communities stronger. I am pleased to welcome Crystal Meloche to our Board,” said AMO President Riley Brockington.

AMO is a non-profit organization representing 444 municipalities across Ontario. It brings municipalities together to strengthen their collective voice and ensure the perspectives of cities, towns, rural communities and northern municipalities inform provincial and federal decision-making.

Municipalities are stepping up to meet the needs of their communities — investing in infrastructure, completing major capital projects and delivering essential services — but they cannot do it alone.

"Long-term, sustainable provincial funding is needed to ensure municipalities can continue to deliver the infrastructure and services Ontarians rely on," said Brockington.

“I’m honoured to have been elected to the AMO Board of Directors. Municipalities are facing real challenges, from infrastructure and housing to affordability and the growing demands on local services. I wanted to be part of the Board because these are the same challenges we’re working through here at home, and I want to ensure LaSalle and Essex County have a strong voice in advocating for the tools and support our communities need.”

Town of LaSalle joins AMO in calling for action on municipal priorities that affect communities across Ontario, including:

  • Long-term, predictable infrastructure funding to support housing, economic growth and the infrastructure communities need;
  • Full provincial funding for health and social services that are provincial responsibilities; and
  • Coordinated action and investment from all orders of government to address Ontario’s growing homelessness crisis.

Information about AMO’s advocacy and support for municipal governments is available at AMO’s website.
