Virtual Delegations

All written comments must be submitted to the Clerk by Friday at noon before the scheduled Council Meeting. Anything submitted after the cut off time will not form part of the Agenda.

Council Meetings are being held virtually through Zoom due to the Covid-19 pandemic. If you would like to participate at a virtual meeting you can. You can submit a written comment to the Town of LaSalle Clerk's department by email, fax or in person. You can register to provide verbal comments during a virtual meeting by contacting the Clerk by email or by phone at (519) 969-7770 extension 1223. It is your responsibility to indicate if you require an accommodation. The Clerk will determine the best method to address the accommodation before the meeting. The meetings are broadcasted live on the Town of LaSalle's Youtube Channel. Delegates that participate virtually will form part of the recording.

Where Do I Begin?

Before you decide to appear before Council, you may want to discuss concerns with a Council member or Town of LaSalle staff member. Some issues may be resolved at the staff level, or at the very least, staff can advise you the next step toward resolving your concerns.

Format of Meetings

Delegations are heard by Council near the beginning of the meeting. The Mayor will invite you, as a delegate, to approach the delegation table to make your presentation. After your delegation, you should remain at the table to answer any questions from Council members. Following questions, Council does not entertain comments and you will be asked to return to the gallery. Council members may then deal with the issue in the order in which it appears on the Agenda.

Registering as a Delegation

A delegation will not be registered to address members of LaSalle Council at a Council meeting unless this specific item is listed on the Agenda. Persons speaking before Council shall address their remarks to the stated business only. Any person who wishes to appear before a regular meeting of Council shall make application to the Clerk by noon on the Friday preceding the Council meeting. Requests to speak at a Council meeting must be made in writing. LaSalle Council meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:00 p.m.

A maximum of five minutes shall be allotted for each delegation to present their position of support or opposition to the relevant agenda item. Where there are numerous delegations listed taking the same position on a matter, they are encouraged to select a spokesperson to present their views.

A Delegation Request Form stating the topic to be discussed, a petition form (pdf) or any request to be made of Council is required in writing.  Once received, the information will be circulated to Administration for response. This information will then be placed on an agenda and considered by Council.

Individuals who submit letters and other information to Council and its Committees should be aware that any personal information contained within their communications may become part of the public record, and may be made available through the agenda process, which includes publication on the municipality's website.
