Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan

In 2026, The Town of LaSalle finalized the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan in partnership with Monteith Brown Planning Consultants. The Plan is a strategic decision-making guide to meet the needs of all residents over the next 5 years, with a longer-term outlook to the year 2050 when the population is expected to reach 50,000 residents.

The Master Plan explores:

  • Indoor recreation facilities such as arenas, pools, and gymnasiums;
  • Outdoor recreation facilities such as sports fields, playgrounds, and splash pads;
  • Parks and open spaces;
  • Cultural facilities; and
  • Program and service delivery.

The Master Plan outlines potential directions and opportunities for the future but does not obligate the Town to undertake any particular project or expenditure. Approval of the Plan does not include any financial commitments. Any initiatives that may arise from the Plan will be evaluated individually and presented to Council through the budget process for consideration and approval.

Timeline

The final version of the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan was presented and adopted at the Regular Meeting of LaSalle Council on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. This comprehensive plan outlines the community’s long‑term vision for parks, recreational amenities, cultural services, and public spaces, helping guide decision‑making for the next several years in the Town of LaSalle.

The Parks Recreation and Culture Master Plan serves as a strategic roadmap to guide long-term direction for parks, recreation and culture. Funding is not requested at this time; there are no capital or operating funds allocated for the initiatives identified within the plan. This document has been developed to serve as a guide rather than a commitment by the Town to any immediate implementation. Any initiatives that may arise from the Plan will be evaluated individually and presented to Council through the budget process for consideration and approval.

A drop-in open house was held at the Vollmer Centre on November 17, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, to share information about the 2026 Proposed Budget and Park, Recreation and Culture Master Plan.

The Phase 1 Report was presented to LaSalle Council at the March 11, 2025 Regular Meeting.

Community engagement is important to ensure that the Master Plan responds to the needs of residents. We want to know how you use parks, recreation, and cultural facilities, and how we can improve public spaces, services, and programs for current and future generations.

Community engagement took place at a Town of LaSalle Open House on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Vollmer Centre.

Residents were asked to complete the Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Community Survey between November 11 and December 6, 2024. Feedback was also requested by leaving comments on the Town of LaSalle Parks, Recreation and Culture Master Plan Placespeak page, by sharing feedback via email or in writing.
