Swimmer 1

These beginners will become comfortable jumping into water with and without wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD). They will learn to open their eyes and exhale underwater and gain the skills to confidently get objects off of the bottom. They will swim 5 metres of flutter kick and front crawl while wearing a PFD and will work on floats and moving through the water on their front and back.
Recommended: Beginner or completion of Preschool 1, 2 or 3 or continuing Red Cross Swimkids 1.

Swimmer 2
|
These advanced beginners will jump into deeper water independently and learn to be comfortable falling sideways into the water wearing a Personal Flotation Device (PFD). They will be able to support themselves at the surface without an aid, learn whip kick, swim 10 metres of front crawl and back crawl and tread water for 15 seconds.
Recommended: Completion of Swimmer 1, Preschool 4 or Red Cross Swimkids 1.

Swimmer 3
|
These junior swimmers will roll into water, do handstands, tread water for 30 seconds and swim underwater. They will work on front crawl and back crawl swimming for 15 metres each and do interval swims of 4 x 15 metres of flutter kick with 20 second rests.
Recommended: Completion of Swimmer 2 or Red Cross Swimkids 2/3.

Swimmer 4
|
These intermediate swimmers will swim 25 metres each of front and back crawl and will swim underwater, they will do whip kick and a breaststroke arms drill with breathing for 15 metres each. They will finish with interval swims of 4 x 25 metres of front or back crawl with 20 second rests.
Recommended: Completion of Swimmer 3 or Red Cross Swimkids 4/5.

Swimmer 5
|
These confident swimmers will master stationary eggbeater kick, tuck jump into deep water and perform a back somersault in water. They will refine their front crawl and back crawl for 50 metres each and swim breaststroke for 25 metres. They will pick up the pace with front crawl, back crawl and breastroke interval training and swim head-up front crawl for 10 metres.
Recommended: Completion of Swimmer 4 or Red Cross Swimkids 6.

Swimmer 6
|
These advanced swimmers will rise to the challenge of sophisticated aquatic skills such as eggbeater kick on their back for 10 metres and treading water for 45 seconds without the use of arms. They will develop strength and power in breaststroke for 50 metres and will easily swim 100 metres of front and back crawl and concentrate on a 300 metre workout.
Recommended: Completion of Swimmer 5 or Red Cross Swimkids 7.

Swimmer 7
|
This program is designed for youth 8-12 years old. Swimmers will begin to learn self rescue techniques and the rescue of others, as well as continuing to focus on endurance.
Recommended: Must have completed the previous level.
