Celebrating a 35-Year Partnership: LaSalle Fire and Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary

Coast Guard Presentation

At the Tuesday, December 10, 2024, Regular Meeting of Council, Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary (CCGA) presented a certificate and plaque to the LaSalle Fire Service in recognition of 35 years of partnership between LaSalle Fire Rescue and CCGA.

The LaSalle Fire Rescue Unit and the CCGA share a unique relationship that benefits both organizations. By partnering with the CCGA, LaSalle Fire Rescue members receive Transport Canada certification through CCGA training, at no direct cost to taxpayers. Additionally, when the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre tasks a rescue to LaSalle or a LaSalle boat is used in training, the CCGA provides compensation.

“I am honoured and privileged to be here to recognize this 35-year partnership. We extend our appreciation to the Town of LaSalle and members of the fire service for seeing the value of working together to ensure your waterways are safe for your residents and transient boaters,” said Greg Grimes, District 3 Director, Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary.

In addition, a partnership that lasts 35 years is sustained when there is great leadership. LaSalle Firefighter Randy Curtis was presented with a 25-year service certificate.

“Randy is always available when CCGA has a question or needs assistance. He ensures we are all working towards our goals and objectives related to training and boating education. We are honoured to have Randy with us in this partnership for 25 years,” said Grimes.

Congratulations, Randy, LaSalle Fire Rescue, and the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary!
