Exciting New Programs for Seniors (55+) in LaSalle
The Town of LaSalle is pleased to announce the launch of LaSalle Senior Active Living (LSAL), set to begin free programming in April. Sessions will include wellness, educational activities, social events, and drop-in programs designed for older adults (55+) and will take place at various municipal locations in LaSalle.
"We are thrilled to launch LaSalle Senior Active Living, a program to enrich the lives of older adults through a diverse range of activities. We look forward to seeing participants enjoy the benefits of this new program,” says Patti Funaro, Director of Culture and Recreation.
Upcoming sessions include Weekly Learning and Activity Sessions, Pole Walking, and Cyber Seniors.
Weekly Learn and Activity Sessions: Engage in a variety of enriching activities designed to promote health, wellness, and social connection. Each session will feature a different focus. Stay active, expand your knowledge, or simply enjoy some fun and creative time with others, these sessions offer something for everyone. Sessions are held every Tuesday and Wednesday beginning Tuesday, April 1. Some upcoming sessions include yoga, wellness, water activities, card games, painting, knitting, crocheting, and more!
Pole Walking: Every Thursday at 10:00 am, beginning, Thursday, April 3. Join our pole walking program and enjoy the great outdoors while getting a full body workout.
When the weather is pleasant, participants will meet weekly at a different park location to explore the beautiful LaSalle Trails. In the case of inclement weather, the program will take place indoors at the Vollmer Centre. Walking poles will be provided.
Cyber Seniors: Designed to bridge the digital divide by connecting older adults with tech-savvy staff for one-on-one assistance with their devices. The first session is Monday, April 28 at 10:00 am.
Additional offerings to include Coffee with a Community Leader and more Sneakers and Speakers sessions. Special seniors' day events are also in the works. More information to come in the future as the program rolls out further.

Seniors Active Living Centre programs offer social, cultural, learning and recreational programs for older adults that promote health, well-being and social connections. LaSalle is one of over 300 programs across Ontario. This initiative is made possible through a generous $55,000 annual grant from the Ministry of Seniors and Accessibility.
