Malden Road Utility Upgrades and Infrastructure Improvements Begin July 2

Beginning Thursday, July 2, Hydro One will begin construction along the west side of Malden Road, starting near the Cahill Bridge and moving southbound.
The project will begin with the installation of new utility poles, a phase expected to take a minimum of four weeks. Once complete, crews will continue with hydro line relocations, utility relocations, and the removal of existing poles. Planned power outages will be required at various stages of the work, and affected customers will receive advance notification.
The overall project is expected to continue for approximately four months.
Traffic Impacts
Residents and motorists should expect intermittent lane closures throughout the construction period. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction; however, delays are anticipated, particularly during peak travel times.
Coordinated Construction Activities
This work is part of a larger coordinated effort along the Malden Road corridor. Additional construction activities planned in the area include:
-
Future utility work on the east side of the road by Essex Powerlines and Bell.
-
Bridge improvements between Cahill Drain and Morton Drive beginning in mid-July.
With multiple contractors working throughout the corridor, residents can expect localized traffic delays. Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain access for motorists and nearby properties.
Front Road Storm Sewer Reconstruction Nearing Completion
Reconstruction of the storm sewers along Front Road is approaching completion. Remaining paving work is expected to be completed by next week, with the project anticipated to be fully finished within two weeks. Once complete, all lanes will reopen to traffic.
The Town appreciates the patience and cooperation of residents and motorists as these important infrastructure improvements are completed.
