Hello residents of LaSalle, 

This month marks the 30th anniversary of Black History Month, a time to honour the legacy and lasting impact of Black Canadians throughout our nation’s history. On behalf of the Town of LaSalle, I would like to recognize the essential contributions of Black Canadians in building our country, championing civil rights, and advancing social justice–efforts that continue to shape Canada today. It is important that we all support our Black community and celebrate the next generation of leaders, innovators, and changemakers who are redefining excellence across every field. 

Family Day in LaSalle 

As we approach Valentine’s Day and the Family Day weekend, I remind everyone that there are many wonderful activities open to the public here in LaSalle. I encourage residents to visit The Loop, open daily from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. It is a great way to stay active and spend time with your loved ones during this cold season. Additionally, free skate loaning will be available Saturday to Monday, between 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Food trucks will be on-site on Monday during the same hours. Visitors are encouraged to check The Loop trail status before heading out.

On Monday, February 16, the Vollmer Centre will be offering recreational swims and public skating opportunities for Family Day. I encourage families to visit our website for the full schedule and registration details. Pre-registration is highly recommended! Secure your spot by registering. 

Municipal offices will be closed for the Family Day holiday on Monday, February 16, 2026 and will resume regular hours on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. On behalf of myself and Council, we hope you find some time this month to spend time with your loved ones! 

LaSalle Awards of Excellence 

The LaSalle Awards of Excellence nomination period has been extended but is fast approaching. If you know someone who has helped in shaping LaSalle into a vibrant and caring community, I encourage you to submit a nomination by Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 4:30 pm.

Mondays with the Mayor 

The upcoming Mondays with the Mayor is on Monday, February 23, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Town of LaSalle Civic Centre, 5950 Malden Road. I invite members of our community to meet with me in person to share ideas or ask questions.

Interim Tax Billing 

Payments for Town of LaSalle 2026 Interim Tax Bills are due by Friday, February 27. There are many payment options available. To avoid late fees when paying through your financial institution, make your payment a few days before the due date. A late fee will be automatically added to your account if we receive the payment after the due date.

11th Annual Best of Windsor Essex Awards Voting 

I am excited to announce that the Town of LaSalle has been nominated in two categories for the 11th Annual Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island (TWEPI) Best of Windsor. Show your support and vote for LaSalle Holiday Lights Heritage Nights for Best Holiday Event, and LaSalle Trails for Best Trails. Don’t forget to vote for your favourite LaSalle businesses, too! Cast your vote at Best of Windsor Essex Vote. Voting is open until Sunday, March 1st at 11:59 pm. Let’s celebrate the Best Things to See and Do in Windsor Essex!
