Hello residents of LaSalle,

The past few weeks have been exciting for the Town of LaSalle, with several significant milestones demonstrating the incredible momentum we are seeing across our region. Deputy Mayor Akpata and I were honoured to represent the Town of LaSalle at the official ribbon cutting ceremony of the Gordie Howe International Bridge. It was a privilege to be there on behalf of our residents, council, and the many current and former Town staff who worked diligently over the years to bring this project to life. The Gordie Howe International Bridge is more than a new crossing—it represents stronger trade, economic opportunity, continued growth for our region, and something that our community can be proud of.

I was also proud to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fancsy Family Regional Acute Care Hospital. This project represents one of the largest healthcare investments in Windsor-Essex. It is a crucial step towards ensuring that residents have access to modern and world-class healthcare for generations to come.

Premier Visits LaSalle

Last week, LaSalle was pleased to welcome Premier Doug Ford to our community. During his visit we had the opportunity to highlight one of our outstanding local manufactures, Propower Manufacturing, and the innovation and economic growth taking place here in LaSalle. We appreciate the Premier taking the time to visit our community and see firsthand the incredible work carried out by our local businesses.

Civic Holiday

As we head into the Civic Holiday weekend, I’d like to remind residents that the LaSalle Civic Centre and the Vollmer Centre will be closed on Monday, August 3. If you’re looking for something fun to do over the long weekend, there are plenty of free family-friendly activities to enjoy right here in LaSalle. Take advantage of free recreational swimming at the LaSalle Outdoor Pool, cool off at the Rotary Circle at LaSalle Landing or the Splash Pad at the Vollmer Complex, and enjoy pickleball, tennis, or basketball at one of our outdoor courts. LaSalle Trails

Residents can use LaSalle’s extensive trail network to spend more time outdoors this summer. Many of our trails offer shade from the hot sun. Stroll through the trees in Brunet Park or Stanton Woods for some much-needed relief. There is a space for everyone to enjoy, whether you’re cycling, walking, or jogging. Kylie Masse Wins Gold

Kylie Masse, who grew up swimming at the LaSalle Outdoor Pool, has won gold in the women’s 50m backstroke at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this past week. This is her 11th career medal at the games. Congratulations Kylie and thank you for representing Canada. Your hometown is very proud of you and all your accomplishments.
