Notice of LaSalle By-Election 2025
NOTICE is hereby given to the Municipal Electors of the Town of LaSalle that a By-Election to elect one (1) at-large Councillor, has been called. Voting Day for this By-Election is Monday, October 20, 2025. The newly-elected Councillor will be sworn in on October 28, 2025, and will hold office until the end of the term, on November 14, 2026.
On May 13, 2025, the seat for one (1) Office of Councillor was declared vacant. The By-law to conduct a By-Election was adopted by Council on July 8, 2025. The By-Election will be held using internet voting. This method of election was used to conduct the 2022 Regular Election and the same method Council selected for the 2026 Regular Election.
In accordance with section 17(2) of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996, a person is entitled to be an elector at an election held in a local municipality if on voting day they;
- reside in the local municipality or are the owner or tenant of land there, or are the spouse of such owner or tenant;
- are a Canadian citizen;
- are at least 18 years old; and
- are not otherwise prohibited from voting by law.
Eligible electors should expect to receive a Voter Information Letter (VIL) at the end of September and will be able to begin casting their ballots when the voting period begins on October 10, 2025, at 10:00 am until the voting period ends on October 20, 2025, at 8:00 pm. To provide eligible electors with voting assistance during the voting period, a Voter Help Centre will be located inside the Civic Centre, 5950 Malden Road, in the Town of LaSalle. The hours of operation for the Voter Help Centre are posted online at www.lasalle.ca/byelection.
