Regional Accessibility Flag-Raising Ceremony on May 26 in LaSalle

The Town of LaSalle will be raising the Regional Accessibility Flag at a ceremony on Monday, May 26 at 1:00 pm at the LaSalle Civic Centre, 5950 Malden Road, to mark the beginning of National AccessAbility Week. National AccessAbility Week takes place from May 25 to May 31, 2025, and provides the opportunity to:

  • Celebrate the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities.
  • Highlight the work of people, organizations, and communities that are removing barriers.
  • Reflect on the continuous efforts to become a better, more accessible, more inclusive Canada.

In support of Red Shirt Day for Accessibility and Inclusion, please wear the colour red to the Town of LaSalle Regional Accessibility Flag Raising ceremony.

The AccessAbility flag, designed locally by Kristine Verbeek, depicts a stylized figure in a wheelchair facing the right side of the flag and seven right-pointing chevrons helping to move the wheelchair forward. This flag was selected by the Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee as a symbol of the seven local municipalities moving forward, in the right direction, toward greater accessibility and inclusion.
