Temporary Sidewalk and Trail Closures on Malden Road During Construction

As part of the ongoing major construction project on Malden Road, temporary sidewalk and trail closures will begin this week between the Cahill Drain and Grillo Avenue. The closures will occur in three stages over the next few months. Access for vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained, but routes may change as work progresses.
Stage 1: The LaSalle Trail on the east side of Malden Road between the Cahill Drain and Grillo Avenue will be closed. Northbound and southbound vehicle traffic will continue to use both lanes. Pedestrians will be directed to use the sidewalk on the west side of Malden Road and cross at the Normandy Street intersection. This stage is expected to take approximately two weeks to complete.
Stage 2: Both the sidewalk and the LaSalle Trail along Malden Road between the Cahill Drain and Grillo Avenue will be closed to pedestrians. Road users will continue to have access to northbound and southbound travel. Pedestrians and trail users will be directed to follow the signed detour route around the construction area. Users of the LaSalle Trail heading west toward Malden Road will be directed to leave the trail at Natalie Park, continue along Stock Street, and reconnect via Normandy Street. This stage is expected to take approximately eight weeks.
Stage 3: Road users will continue to have access to northbound and southbound travel. The sidewalk on the west side of Malden Road will be open to pedestrians. This stage is expected to take approximately two weeks.
The Town appreciates the public's patience and cooperation while this work is completed.
