Town of LaSalle Raises Accessibility Flag for National AccessAbility Week on June 1

To mark the beginning of National AccessAbility Week, the Town of LaSalle is hosting a Regional Accessibility Flag Raising Ceremony on Monday, June 1, at 1:30 pm at the LaSalle Civic Centre, 5950 Malden Road.
National AccessAbility Week runs from Sunday, May 31 to Saturday, June 6, and recognizes the contributions of Canadians with disabilities while promoting efforts to build a more accessible and inclusive country. The week provides an opportunity to:
- Celebrate the valuable contributions and leadership of Canadians with disabilities.
- Highlight the work of people, organizations and communities that are removing barriers.
- Reflect on the continuous efforts to become a better, more accessible, more inclusive Canada.
In support of Red Shirt Day for Accessibility and Inclusion, please wear the colour red to the Town of LaSalle Regional Accessibility Flag Raising ceremony.
The AccessAbility flag, designed locally by Kristine Verbeek, depicts a stylized figure in a wheelchair facing the right side of the flag and seven right-pointing chevrons helping to move the wheelchair forward. This flag was selected by the Essex County Accessibility Advisory Committee as a symbol of the seven local municipalities moving forward, in the right direction, toward greater accessibility and inclusion.
The Town of LaSalle remains dedicated to fostering an inclusive community by enhancing programs, services, and facilities for all residents. To learn more about the Town’s accessibility initiatives, visit the Accessibility page on the Town of LaSalle website.
