Town of LaSalle seeks applicants for Joint Election Compliance Audit Committee

The Town of LaSalle is inviting residents to apply for appointment to a Joint Election Compliance Audit Committee in advance of the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election.
The Joint Election Compliance Audit Committee is being established collaboratively with several municipalities across Essex County including the Towns of LaSalle, Amherstburg, Essex, Kingsville, Tecumseh and the Municipality of Lakeshore. This regional approach helps ensure consistency and shared expertise in overseeing election-related financial compliance.
The committee plays an important role in the municipal election process by reviewing requests related to campaign finances for candidates and third-party advertisers. It may also look at reports from the Clerk about contributions made during the election, as outlined in the Municipal Elections Act.
The Town is seeking qualified individuals with relevant knowledge and experience. Ideal candidates may include:
-
Individuals with accounting or audit experience, particularly related to financial statements or election campaigns
-
Academic professionals with expertise in political science or public administration
-
Legal professionals
-
Individuals familiar with campaign finance rules under the Municipal Elections Act
Committee members will review submissions and make decisions related to compliance audit requests during the 2026 election cycle.
Residents interested in contributing to the integrity and transparency of the municipal election process are encouraged to apply online. For more information about the committee and to submit an application, visit the Joint Election Compliance Audit Committee web page. Applications are being accepted until Friday, July 17, 2026, at 4:30 pm.
