Garbage Collection

Garbage is collected weekly on Tuesday or Friday. Please refer to the schedule in your collection calendar to determine which day your garbage will be collected.

 Tips for Garbage Collection
  • Put your garbage out the night before.
  • There is a six (6) bag limit on the number of bags you can place out for collection.
  • No containers may be over 45 pounds in weight.
 Large Items And Furniture
Will be picked up on your regularly scheduled garbage day (with the exception of white goods). Items such as box springs, mattresses, couches, chairs, and similar materials can be put out on any regular garbage day. Please call GFL Environmental Inc. at 519-944-8009 to advise you have a large item for pick up.

 Non Collectable Waste

Waste that is deemed non collectable includes:

  • ammunition
  • animal carcasses
  • animal waste 
  • appliances
  • automotive parts
  • bricks
  • combustibles
  • chemical waste
  • computer equipment
  • concrete
  • construction and demolition waste
  • explosives
  • industrial waste
  • liquid waste
  • medical waste
  • metal items
  • pallets
  • paint products
  • propane tanks
  • renovation debris
  • syringes
  • televisions
  • tires

If your garbage is not collected for any reason other than noted above, please contact GFL Environmental at 519-944-8009. They are contracted by the Town of LaSalle for garbage collection.

Yard Waste Collection

Yard Waste collection begins in April and runs until November. 

Leaf Collection happens in November and December. The scheduled dates for leaf collection are November 23 and December 7, 2024. Leaf collection is for leaves only as they are delivered to Fighting Island for natural regeneration.

Please put your yard waste and leaf collection out the night before collection. The Town does not accept plastic bags for yard waste collection. The only acceptable containers are:

  • Cardboard boxes
  • Paper yard waste bags
  • Garbage cans or pails

 Garden Waste

 Includes flowers, vegetables, plants and fruit.

 Grass Clippings

 Try grass cycling and leave them on your lawn. If you must place grass clippings out, put in garbage pails.

 Tree and Hedge Trimmings

 Must be tied in bundles with a maximum length of 4 feet and maximum diameter of 2 feet.

 Leaves

Leaf collections are for leaves only; yard waste will not be collected. Yard waste (except for grass clippings) is free to drop off at the Essex-Windsor Solid Waste Authority Public Drop-Off Depot.  Two Saturday leaf collections dates are scheduled each year in late fall. Refer to the Town of LaSalle Collection Calendar for dates. 

 Christmas Trees

 Should be dropped off after Christmas at one of the following locations:
  • River Canard Park (Malden Road)
  • LaSalle Landing (Front Road)
  • LaSalle Public Works (Judy Recker Crescent)
  • Optimist Park (Victory Street)
  • Heritage Park (Heritage Drive)
  • Vince Marcotte Park (LaSalle Street & Normandy Road).

Note: There will not be a drop off at the Fire Station (1900 Normandy Street).

We ask that you refer to your collection calendar for changes in the regular schedule due to holidays.
