Information about the Strawberry Festival

Accessibility

The 2022 Strawberry Festival will be located at the Vollmer Recreation Complex. The festival grounds is paved and is wheelchair accessible. Accessible parking spots are also available.

Admission Fees

Admission to the festival is $5 per person. Individuals 5 and under are free. individuals 65 and over are also free.

Advance weekend passes will be sold at the Vollmer Complex for $12 until Wednesday night before the festival begins.

A portion of the admission fee will support local non-profit organizations.

Animals

Household animals and pets are not permitted at the festival. Service animals are permitted.

ATM

An ATM will be on site. Some vendors are equipped to accept credit and debit cards.

Bags and Purses

Approved bags cannot exceed 14” x 14” x 6”. Diaper bags and medical bags are permitted. All persons and bags entering the festival will be subject to security inspection.  

Bike Valet

Bike Windsor-Essex will be offering a bike valet service during the festival. Feel free to take your bicycle to the event!

Carnival

Robertson Amusements Carnival sells admission to their rides on site.

On Thursday, all rides are $2 (Toonie night).

First Aid

A first aid station is available at the festival.

LaSalle Transit

LaSalle Transit routes will take riders directly to the festival. Stay tuned for a list of routes for 2022.

Parking

Free parking is available in designated lots. Parking is available in 7 municipal lots and is on a first come first serve basis. If you park in a no parking zone, you could be ticketed or towed. Accessible parking is available and located in the main Vollmer Complex parking lot with signage and is clearly identifiable. Patrons are encouraged to consider biking to the festival and taking advantage of the free bike valet service.

Restrooms

Restrooms are available at the festival. Accessible restrooms are also available. Restrooms are cleaned and sanitized daily.

Security

Security is posted at the festival entrances as well as throughout the festival grounds. Security is permitted to search bags for contraband such as alcohol, weapons or narcotics. 

For additional public safety, LaSalle Police Service deploys uniformed officers at the festival. 

Smoking/Vaping

In accordance with Smoke Free Ontario Act and Town By-law 7775, Smoking and Vaping on Town property is prohibited. Alcohol is prohibited at the event.

Strawberries and Ice Cream

Strawberries and Ice CreamThe Town of LaSalle, in partnership with Life After Fifty, will be selling strawberries and ice cream at the event. Come and enjoy a cup of fresh and local strawberries from Raymont's Berries.

Raymont's Berries is located in Cottom in Essex County. Raymont's serves delicious produce. Visit their farm to pick up fresh local berries, vegetables and more. You can also see the Raymont's Berries truck in the Strawberry Festival Parade carrying Captain Strawberry.

Volunteering

Looking to add to your high school volunteer credits? Interested in supporting the festival? Volunteers are needed to clean and cut strawberries. Come to the LaSalle Fire Service headquarters on Normandy Street on Wednesday from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm to help. For those looking for volunteer credits, staff on site will complete your credit form.

Water Bottle Refill Station

A water bottle refill station from OCWA will be available once inside the festival.

Weather

The festival operates rain or shine. The Town of LaSalle will evacuate the festival in the event of severe weather. Be sure to bring sunscreen and water.

Parade

The LaSalle Strawberry Festival Parade is held on Saturday at 10:00 am on Front Road beginning at Old Front Road and ending at Sacred Heart Drive.

Note that the streets perpendicular to Front Road including Reaume, Vermont, Riverview, Elsworth, Ulster, Bouffard, Superior, Huron, Lafferty, Laurier, Maple, Kenwood, Delaware and Sacred Heart Drive will be closed beginning at 9:30 am and will remain closed until approximately 10:45 am. If you are planning on commuting, please seek an alternative route.

Insurance

Proof of insurance naming the Town of LaSalle as an additional insured for the festival dates is required. Insurance must provide $2,000,000 liability.

TSSA (Food Trucks and Trailers)
Food trucks and trailers must provide a copy of their TSSA Proof of Compliance certificate to the Town of LaSalle.
WECHU

Food vendors must submit a Windsor-Essex County Health Unit Food Vendor Application Form online directly to WECHU. Food vendors are responsible for ensuring up-to-date paperwork and inspection records.

The WECHU is made aware in advance of all food vendors.

Assigned Vendor Booth

Booth Location

Vendor booth location will be assigned by the Town of LaSalle. We will do our best to accommodate special requests, but cannot guarantee accommodations. You will be informed of your booth location before the event along with a vendor map. Vendors are not permitted to sell items outside of the approved booth area. All booths must remain stationary. Booth area includes tent structures, and all supplies and storage (e.g. carts, trailers, etc.) Our safety inspector will enforce this during set-up and inspection times. 

The vendor is solely responsible for providing all items for their booth including tent, chairs, tables, extension cords and other set-up equipment. All sale items and signage must remain inside allotted booth spaces.

Vendors are responsible for securing their tents (with sandbags). Vendor booths must be staffed for the entire duration of the festival. Early tear down or closing is prohibited.

Electrical Requirements

All equipment and extension cords must be provided by the vendor and shall meet the approval of the Electrical Safety Authority including a ground prong. All booths requiring electrical are subject to an inspection by the Electrical Safety Authority at any time during the festival. They will be looking for unpermitted items such as heaters, hot plates or worn/damaged cords. Electrical hook up, disconnection and inspection will be completed the designated electrician.

Diesel generators are not permitted.

Items for Sale
The LaSalle Strawberry Festival reserves the right to regulate goods sold by vendors and accept or deny vendor entry to the festival. The LaSalle Strawberry Festival holds exclusive rights to the sale of strawberries and ice cream. Vendors are not permitted to sell strawberries and ice cream. The Town welcomes strawberry-related items such as milkshakes, toppings, flavours, pies or desserts. The LaSalle Strawberry Festival is a family orientated event. Sale of any items, or unprofessional conduct by vendors that contravene this theme are strictly prohibited. Items for sale displaying profanity of any sort, weapons, drug paraphernalia or any items deemed unsafe are restricted. Booths will be monitored on site throughout the duration of the Festival.
Tents and Trailers
All tents and trailers must fit inside the allocated booth space. If a trailer, tent or truck does not fit within the pre-purchased booth space, vendors will be charged for additional space. For example, a thirty-three foot trailer would require four, ten-foot booth spaces.
Water

Water hook up is available for food vendors only. Water will be installed by our site technician.

Set-Up and Tear-Down

 
Oil and Greywater Disposal

All food vendors must properly dispose of oil at their own expense at an appropriate recycling facility. Greywater must be held in the food vendors own tank and disposed of properly off-site. Dumping oil and greywater at the festival is prohibited.

Outdoor Event
The LaSalle Strawberry Festival is an outdoor event. Vendors with light-sensitive products shall take their own precautions to protect their product from weather and sunshine. The Town will not move vendor booths once set up. Vendor booth assignments are non-negotiable. Special requests for spots with shade cannot be accommodated.
Set-Up

Set-up begins on Wednesday and must be completed by Thursday at 1:00 pm. In order to ensure safety for festival patrons, all vehicles must be removed from the festival area and moved to vendor or general parking by 2:00 pm at the latest. 

The site electrician will connect all electrical devices to power. Vendors are not permitted to connect their own power.

Tear-Down
Tear down begins at the close of the festival on Sunday at 5:00 pm. At the close of the festival, vehicles are not allowed into the park until 30 minutes after the festival closes to allow festival patrons to safely exit the park. All booths must be vacated and removed from the premises before 1:00 pm on Monday. Vendors are responsible for their own site cleanup. Vendors who leave their vendor site in a messy condition which requires extra clean up will be invoiced by The Town of LaSalle for the clean-up and repair costs.
Weather
The festival operates rain or shine. The Town of LaSalle will evacuate the festival in the event of severe weather.

Security

In addition to security during event hours, festival security will be provided overnight on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Vendors are responsible for their own theft and liability insurance. The Town of LaSalle is not responsible for lost or stolen property or damage caused to vandalism, accident or weather conditions.

LaSalle Police Service deploys uniformed officers at the LaSalle Strawberry Festival.

Sound and Noise

Vendors must ensure sound and noise at their booth is kept to a minimum. The Town reserves the right to direct vendors to turn down music or limit noise if deemed excessive and distracting.

Vendor Parking

Vendors will be provided parking passes at the Festival. Vendors are not permitted to park their vehicles or campers at their booth inside the Festival grounds.

The annual fireworks display begins on Friday night at dusk (approximately 9:45 pm).
