Admission and Carnival

Festival Admission

Advanced gate admission sales are now available online. Advanced admission is available for purchase online only. Admission can also be purchased at the festival gate.

  • Admission to the festival is $5 per person. Cash and credit are accepted at the gate.
  • Free entry for kids 5 years old and under and individuals aged 65 and over.
  • Advance purchase weekend pass is $12 per person and is available online only until Sunday, June 11.

Carnival Rides

  • The carnival is operated by Robertson Amusements. The carnival accepts cash, credit and debit. An ATM machine is available inside the festival.
  • After June 7, carnival tickets can be purchased on-site only, including the following:
    • Thursday, June 8: Toonie Night. All rides are $2.
    • Friday, June 9: $30 Unlimited Ride Pass.
  • The carnival has approximately 10 rides available to provide fun for all ages.

Parade

The LaSalle Strawberry Festival Parade is held on Saturday at 10:00 am on Front Road beginning at Old Front Road and ending at Sacred Heart Drive. The parade route is 1.5 KM.

Road Closures: Note that the streets perpendicular to Front Road including Reaume, Vermont, Riverview, Elsworth, Ulster, Bouffard, Superior, Huron, Lafferty, Laurier, Maple, Kenwood, Delaware and Sacred Heart Drive will be closed beginning at 9:30 am and will remain closed until approximately 10:45 am. If you are planning on commuting, please seek an alternative route.

LaSalle Transit 25 route will be redirected for the parade. Bus stops located on Matchette Rd., Morton Dr., Front Rd. and International Ave. are closed between 9:00 am and Noon on Saturday, June 10. The route will resume normal operation, with all bus stops open, following the parade. LaSalle Transit is free all weekend.

Information about the Strawberry Festival

Festival Rules

The Town of LaSalle is committed to providing a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for everyone attending the LaSalle Strawberry Festival. Everyone should expect and help to promote an environment where people are treated in a courteous, professional, considerate, and respectful manner. The Town of LaSalle will not tolerate unsafe, abusive, unlawful, or offensive conduct. Guests who engage in this type of behaviour are subject to being ejected and potentially banned from the Festival and the property and may be subject to arrest by law enforcement.

Various resources are used to ensure the safety of everyone visiting the Festival including the use of uniformed police officers and security guards. Please report any security concerns to event staff, onsite police, onsite security or by calling the LaSalle Police Service at 519-969-5210.

General Festival Rules

Public safety is our number one priority, and we have implemented several enhanced security procedures at all entrance gates. As part of the process:

  1. Bags or purses larger than 14” X 14” X 6” and ALL backpacks will not be permitted into the Festival. Diaper bags and medical bags are permitted.
  2. All appropriately sized bags, purses, waist packs, etc. along with diaper and medical bags will be subject to inspection prior to entering by security.
  3. We reserve the right to refuse any bag, parcel, or other item and to deal with any unattended object or bag in such way as we consider appropriate.
  4. Smoking (including vaping) will not be permitted at any time on the Vollmer Complex grounds. Smoking of any kind will result in automatic ejection from the Festival. 
  5. Children should be supervised. Guests under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a Guest aged 14 or older to enter.
  6. Please show common courtesy to fellow Guests and our event staff by not using profanity or engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive, or offensive behaviour.
  7. Horseplay including running, chasing, pushing, wrestling etc. will not be tolerated and will result in the Guest(s) being removed from the Festival. For your safety and the safety of others, please refrain from running.
  8. Outside food and beverages will not be permitted. A water refill station will be available onsite.
  9. A valid ticket will be required for entry. One re-entry per Guest, per day will be permitted. Re-entry passes will no longer be distributed after 6:00 pm each day. Festival admission will close 45 minutes prior to the Festival closing time each day.
  10. Guests must vacate the Vollmer Complex grounds at the completion of the Festival each day. Gathering on the property without apparent purpose is prohibited.

Prohibited Items

  1. Firearms, ammunition, knives, and weapons of any kind.
  2. Bear repellent spray or any other deterrent spray.
  3. Objects or toys that appear or resemble firearms or weapons.
  4. Fireworks or other similarly explosive and/or flammable objects.
  5. Horns, whistles, large megaphones, or artificial noise makers.
  6. Alcoholic beverages and drugs. Any person found at the Festival in an intoxicated state will be automatically removed from the Festival.
  7. Recreational devices such as drones, remote-control toys, bicycles, skateboards, scooters, inline skates, or shoes with built-in wheels.
  8. Wheeled mobility devices with less than 3 wheels or devices that cannot maintain stability and balance when stopped, unpowered and/or unoccupied.

Prohibited Activities

  1. The sale of goods or services, or the display of goods or services, unless you are an approved Strawberry Festival vendor.
  2. The distribution of printed or recorded materials of any kind unless prior written approval has been obtained.
  3. Engaging in any unsafe act or other act that may impede the operation of the Strawberry Festival.
  4. Unauthorized access or entry into backstage areas or areas designated only for staff members or vendors of the Strawberry Festival.
  5. Unauthorized events, speeches, or use of any flag, banner, sign, or other material for commercial purposes, or as part of a demonstration.
  6. Photography, videotaping or recording of any kind, or otherwise engaging in any activity, for unapproved commercial purposes.
  7. Unauthorized solicitations of any kind, whether commercial, religious, educational, or otherwise, or conducting any unauthorized commercial activities, including solicitations of money or other contributions or donations.
  8. Obstructing walkways, entrances, driveways, or exits.

Festival Rules for Guest Attire

  1. Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times.
  2. We reserve the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that we consider inappropriate or attire that could detract from the experience of other Guests. 

Accessibility

Wheelchair and Stroller Accessible Grounds

The 2023 Strawberry Festival will be located at the Vollmer Recreation Complex. The festival grounds are paved and wheelchair accessible.

Parking

Accessible parking is also available in all parking lots and there are paved pathways leading to the festival grounds from each lot. Please note: Parking lots 6 and 7 are gravel parking lots. Parking lots 2 and 3 are closed as this is where the festival is located. View the Vollmer Complex Grounds Map.

Restrooms

Accessible restrooms are available in multiple locations on-site

Sensory Friendly Hour

Sensory-friendly hour, with limited noise and lights, is Sunday, June 12 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.

Service Animals

Visitors that require a support animal while visiting the festival may be asked to provide documentation. Service animals should always remain on a leash or in a harness and under the control of the owner. Service animals may not be permitted on rides or may be prohibited in some Festival areas.

Animals

Pets are not permitted on the festival grounds due to the large volume of visitors within the park. Service animals are permitted.

ATM

An ATM will be on site. Some vendors are equipped to accept credit and debit cards.

Bags and Purses

Approved bags cannot exceed 14” x 14” x 6”. Diaper bags and medical bags are permitted. All persons and bags entering the festival will be subject to security inspection.  

First Aid

Festival personnel are certified in First Aid. 

Parking, Bike Valet and Transit

Free parking is available in designated lots. Parking is available in 5 municipal lots and is on a first come first serve basis. If you park in a no parking zone, you could be ticketed or towed. Accessible parking is available and located in the main Vollmer Complex parking lot with signage and is clearly identifiable. Patrons are encouraged to consider biking to the festival and taking advantage of the free bike valet service.

Bike Windsor-Essex will be offering a bike valet service during the festival. Feel free to take your bicycle to the event!

Everyone can ride LaSalle Transit for free from June 9 to 12, 2022! The bus service has been enhanced during the LaSalle Strawberry Festival with free service and extended hours to match those of the festival. One bus will run during all festival hours with final pick-ups at the Vollmer Culture and Recreation Complex taking place a few minutes after the festival closes. In addition, bus service has also been added on Sunday. Take a look at the schedule on the LaSalle Transit webpage. Transit Windsor’s mandatory mask policy remains in effect and masks must be worn on LaSalle Transit at all times.

Two shuttle buses will also operate on Friday night to bring patrons to and from the festival for the fireworks. One bus will travel between Town Hall and the Vollmer Complex, and one between the old Centennial Arena site (on Front Road behind the Goodwill Donation Centre) and the Vollmer Complex. The shuttles will run between 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm. Parking is first come first serve in both locations. Schedules will be posted soon on the LaSalle Transit webpage. Transit Windsor’s mandatory mask policy remains in effect and masks must be worn on the shuttles at all times.

Restrooms

Restrooms are available inside the festival. Accessible restrooms are also available. Restrooms are cleaned and sanitized daily.

Security

Security is posted at the festival entrances as well as throughout the festival grounds. By entering the event, you are agreeing to security is permitted to search bags for contraband such as alcohol, weapons or narcotics. 

For additional public safety, LaSalle Police Service deploys uniformed officers at the festival. 

Smoking/Vaping

In accordance with Smoke Free Ontario Act and Town By-law 7775, Smoking and Vaping on Town property is prohibited. Alcohol is prohibited at the event.

Strawberries and Ice Cream

Strawberries and Ice Cream

The Town of LaSalle, in partnership with Life After Fifty, will be selling strawberries and ice cream at the event. Come and enjoy a cup of fresh and local strawberries from Raymont's Berries.

Raymont's Berries is located in Cottom in Essex County. Raymont's serves delicious produce. Visit their farm to pick up fresh local berries, vegetables and more. You can also see the Raymont's Berries truck in the Strawberry Festival Parade carrying Captain Strawberry.

Volunteering

Looking to add to your high school volunteer credits? Interested in supporting the festival? Volunteers are needed to clean and cut strawberries. Come to the LaSalle Event Centre on Wednesday, June 7 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm to help. For those looking for volunteer credits, staff on site will complete your credit form.

Water Bottle Refill Station

A water bottle refill station provided by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) will be available once inside the festival, free of charge.

Weather

The festival operates rain or shine. The Town of LaSalle will evacuate the festival in the event of severe weather. Be sure to bring sunscreen and water.
