The Town of LaSalle is committed to protecting personal privacy. The Town collects personal information on a voluntary basis in order to provide services and in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. Personal information collected by the Town of LaSalle is protected from unauthorized access and use and disposed of securely when eligible for destruction.

What is Personal Information?
Personal Information is defined in MFIPPA as recorded information about an identifiable individual, including,
  • information relating to the race, national or ethnic origin, colour, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation or marital or family status of the individual,
  • information relating to the education or the medical, psychiatric, psychological, criminal or employment history of the individual or information relating to financial transactions in which the individual has been involved,
  • any identifying number, symbol or other particular assigned to the individual,
  • the address, telephone number, fingerprints or blood type of the individual,
  • the personal opinions or views of the individual except if they relate to another individual,
  • correspondence sent to an institution by the individual that is implicitly or explicitly of a private or confidential nature, and replies to that correspondence that would reveal the contents of the original correspondence,
  • the views or opinions of another individual about the individual, and
  • the individual’s name if it appears with other personal information relating to the individual or where the disclosure of the name would reveal other personal information about the individual.
How does the Town of LaSalle Collect and Use of Personal Information?
Personal information provided to the Town is collected, used and disclosed in accordance with MFIPPA. Personal information will only be used by the Town for the purposes which it was collected for. The Town of LaSalle will collect only the minimum required information needed to meet the purpose for which the collection of the information is required.

 How to request a correction to your own Personal Information?

MFIPPA establishes the right to request a correction to your own personal information. Routine changes to personal information such as a new address or contact information may not require a formal request under MFIPPA and should be directed to the Department in custody of the record(s).
