Hello residents of LaSalle,
In Remembrance of 9/11, September 11, 2001, may we take time today to pause and remember those who lost their lives, including 24 Canadians at the World Trade Center in New York City. Let us honour and never forget the courageous first responders and emergency personnel who risked and, in many instances, gave their lives in service to others during this tragedy. Let's also remember the remarkable display of hospitality shown by Canadians who welcomed stranded passengers into their homes, providing food and shelter during an uncertain time.
Fighting in Flanders Exhibition
If you’re visiting the LaSalle Civic Centre in the next couple of months, I encourage you to take the time to explore Fighting in Flanders, a travelling exhibition from the Canadian War Museum, now on display in the atrium. The exhibition explores Canada’s important role in Belgium during the First World War, through historical photographs and personal stories. It highlights key events including the invasion of Belgium in 1914, the Battle of Ypres in 1915, and the battle of Passchendaele in 1917. With Remembrance Day approaching, it is a meaningful opportunity to learn more about the experiences and sacrifices of Canadians who served. The exhibition is free and will remain at the LaSalle Civic Centre until Saturday, November 14.
LaSalle Last Call Before Fall
It’s not too late to experience LaSalle Last Call Before Fall this weekend! Tickets will be on sale at the door Friday, September 11. Join the Throwback Party featuring hits from the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s. Grab your cowboy boots and hit the dance floor on Saturday night, with headliner HiGGI Country Music, led by Windsor-Essex musician, Rob Higgins. Outdoor Water Fun
Residents are reminded that the Aquatic Centre at the Vollmer is closed for annual maintenance through September and will reopen on Friday, October 2.
Don’t worry, during the closure residents can swim at the LaSalle Outdoor Pool located at Front Road and Laurier Drive, which will remain open through Friday, October 2. Free recreational swimming is available on Saturdays throughout September from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Register online to reserve your spot, although registration is not required.
As summer comes to a close, families are encouraged to take advantage of staying cool at the Vollmer Splash Pad or the Rotary Circle water feature before they close for the season on Sunday, September 27. Have fun soaking up the last days of summer!
LaSalle Senior Active Living Social 2026
I’m pleased to invite local seniors to save the date and join us on Thursday, October 1, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing. The LaSalle Senior Active Living Social 2026 will be a vibrant celebration of connection and activity among the 55+ community in LaSalle, with a variety of activities tailored to different interests and abilities. Attendees can enjoy tabletop games, dancing, fitness, more. There’s something for everyone!
