Hello residents of LaSalle,
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is coming up on Wednesday, September 30. It is a time to reflect on the history and ongoing impact of residential schools in Canada and to renew our commitment to understanding, respect, and reconciliation. Indian Residential Schools were created to separate indigenous children from their families and communities and to systematically erase their traditions, cultural practices, and languages. Together, we honour the survivors of residential schools and acknowledge the pain that they and their families have carried for generations. Meaningful reconciliation requires continued learning, listening, and action as we work together to foster strong relationships built on respect and understanding.
September 30 is recognized as Orange Shirt Day, inspired by the experience of residential school survivor Phyllis Webstead. Her story has become a symbol of the loss experienced by countless indigenous children and the importance of ensuring that every child matters. To honour the children that survived residential schools and remember those who did not, many Canadians across the country wear an orange shirt on this date, and we encourage those in our community to do the same.
In recognition of National Day of Truth and Reconciliation, LaSalle municipal offices will be closed on Wednesday, September 30. The Vollmer Centre will remain open.
LaSalle Night Market
The last LaSalle Night Market of the summer series is Sunday, September 27, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The market takes place at the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing, 970 Front Road. Come enjoy delicious foods and shop at the wide variety of unique vendors. Entertainment includes live music and a fun monster art craft for kids.
LaSalle Senior Social 2026
The LaSalle Senior Active Living Social will take place on Thursday, October 1 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm, at the Event Centre at LaSalle Landing. This social will be a lively event with activities tailored to different interests and abilities. Attendees can enjoy Tai chi, bingo, dance, and more. A light lunch and refreshments will be included. We look forward to making memories with our 55+ community at this free event.
LaSalle Truck or Treat
Truck or Treat is a Halloween event that brings families together for an afternoon of costumes, treats, and exploring impressive emergency, construction, and specialty vehicles up close. Join the spooky fun on Saturday, October 24 at the Vollmer Complex from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Dress up and bring the whole family to this spooktacular event! We look forward to celebrating with you.
