Matchett Road Intersection Improvements (Morton and Sprucewood)

UPDATE: May 1, 2025: The intersection of Matchett Road and Sprucewood Avenue will reopen Saturday, May 3, at 5:00 pm. Recent improvements at this intersection include the installation of new traffic signals, road improvements (left-turn lane), and sidewalks.

The intersection at Morton Drive and Matchett Road is scheduled to close on Monday, May 5, for road improvements, including sidewalk and pedestrian crossing repairs, and the addition of turning lanes. The work will take approximately three weeks to complete.

Starting Monday, March 24, construction will begin at the Matchett Road and Sprucewood Avenue intersection followed by construction at the Matchett Road and Morton Drive intersection. A full closure and detours will be in place until the end of May. The contractor is Piera Con Enterprises Inc.

The work includes the following:

  • Installation of new traffic signals, a left-turn lane, and sidewalks at the Matchett Road and Sprucewood Avenue intersection.
  • Installation of a left turn lane and sidewalk reconstruction will take place at the Matchett Road and Morton Intersection.

During construction, business and residential driveway access may be disrupted at times. We will try to keep this to a minimum. Individuals with special needs or requiring assistance, please contact Jeremiah Baker at (519) 972-0323 or jbaker@pieracon.ca.

A 2-month long project is taking place on Turkey Creek Bridge at the same time as this project. Traffic detours, signage, and at times traffic control personnel will be on-site. The following detours will be in place to detour traffic around both projects:

  • From LaSalle (south of Turkey Creek Bridge):Use Laurier Drive to access Malden Road or Front Road.
  • From Windsor (north of the Matchett Road and Sprucewood Avenue intersection):Use Armanda Street to Malden Road or Ojibway Parkway via Broadway Street.
