Winter Maintenance

During significant winter events, the Town’s snow removal operations run continuously to keep LaSalle’s road network as safe and accessible as possible. Crews follow a priority system that places major roads and emergency access points first, before moving into residential neighbourhoods. Winter storms can vary widely in duration and intensity, and our response scales accordingly to ensure that roads, public parking lots, trails, and some roadside sidewalks are cleared as efficiently as possible.

To support this work, the Town operates a snow removal fleet that includes:

  • 5 road plows
  • 2 pickup truck plows
  • 1 loader and a variety of smaller specialized equipment used throughout the community.

Clearing the entire community takes time, especially during heavy snowfall. Residents’ cooperation, such as keeping vehicles and waste collection bins off the road to allow safe plow access, plays an important role in helping crews complete their work.

When the plows pass through your neighbourhood, snow will be pushed back into driveways. We know this can be frustrating, but our drivers cannot lift or angle the blade at each driveway.

Reminder: The Town cannot clear snow from driveways. Any other Issues can be reported using the Customer Service Portal. You can also call the Public Works Department Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm at 519-969-4143. In the event of an after hours emergency, the phone will be answered by the Police Dispatch Center.
