The Loop at LaSalle Landing

When the weather warms up, The Loop transitions into a concrete recreational trail ideal for walking, jogging, biking, and inline/roller skating. It’s the perfect spot to stay active outdoors. 

• The Loop is approximately 250 metres in length
• The trail loop took approximately 400 cubic meters of concrete, which equates to about 50 truckloads.
• There are approximately 21 km of refrigeration piping in the concrete loop.  For a comparison, this would stretch down Laurier Drive, from the LaSalle Boat Ramp to Howard Avenue, and back to the boat ramp.
• There are approximately 31 metric tons of reinforcing steel to be placed in the concrete loop.  This is equivalent to the weight of about 31 fully mature Clydesdale horses.
• The concrete loop is supported by about 76 foundations/footings installed perpendicular to the trail, 4.8 m apart.

The Loop at LaSalle Landing is open daily from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. 

• The Winter Loop is flooded on a regular basis. The schedule will be adjusted daily to accommodate weather, staffing, and use. The condition of the ice may be inconsistent. Unscheduled closures may occur without advance notice based on weather and ice conditions. 

• Users must wear ice skates. 

• Stay off the ice while the ice resurfacer is in operation or maintenance is taking place. 

• CSA approved helmets and mittens/gloves are strongly recommended. 

• Carrying of children, including baby carriers, is not permitted on the ice surface. 

  Skate aids and skate sleds are allowed. Chairs, pylons etc. are not allowed. 

• Shoes, pets, strollers, toboggans, sticks, pucks and balls etc. are not allowed. The Winter Loop is for leisure skating. Hockey, speed skating, and/or figure skating is not permitted. 

• No food or drink permitted on or around the ice surface. 

• The Summer Loop can be used for bicycling, walking, jogging, strollers, wheelchairs, inline skating, etc. 

• CSA approved helmets are required for anyone up to 18 years old for bicycling, and strongly recommended for anyone 19 years old and older. CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended for inline skating and/or roller skating. 

The Loop has accessible parking with paved, level pathways.

Parking is available in a public lot south of The Loop (behind TD Bank), and at the Event Centre by entering the parking lot from Bouffard Road. Additional parking spaces are available at the Riverdance building.

Dogs are welcome at LaSalle Landing and on The Loop (except when ice is installed). Animals should be on a leash and under the control of their owner or handler at all times. 

The grounds are fully paved and level to ensure ease of access for persons with mobility devices and parents with strollers.
