October 7, 2026: Voter Information Letters (VIL) for the 2026 LaSalle Municipal and School Board Elections have been mailed, and residents will begin receiving them in the next few days.
Each VIL includes important information about the voting platform, how to vote, and a PIN needed to access the voting portal. Eligible voters are encouraged to review the information carefully to ensure the information is accurate, and the VIL should be kept in a safe place until voting opens. Anthony Leardi, MPP for LaSalle, announced today that the Town of LaSalle is receiving $36,223.56 through Ontario’s Fire Protection Grant, supporting ongoing efforts to protect firefighters and modernize local fire services.
After two days of deliberations on November 27 and 28, LaSalle Council made amendments to the 2026 Budget resulting in a Municipal General Levy of $53M (it was $50M in 2025). This amounts to an increase of the LaSalle portion of taxes to $109.99 annually for the average single-family home, or 3.47%.
The Ontario Heritage Trust, in partnership with the County of Essex, the Town of Amherstburg and the Town of LaSalle, unveiled a new provincial plaque commemorating the River Canard Bridge. Mike Seguin was officially sworn in as a member of LaSalle Council during the Regular Meeting of Council held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. Seguin was elected in the 2025 LaSalle Municipal By-Election on October 20, following the passing of long-serving Councillor Sue Desjarlais. Seguin’s term as councillor will run until November 14, 2026. The next municipal election in LaSalle is set for October 2026.
