Skate Loaning Program

Thanks to Enbridge for sponsoring a skate loaning program. Various adult and child sized skates are available on a first come first serve basis. Helmets are not available, so please bring your own. There are a limited number of skate aids available to loan.

The skate loaning hut is located near the warming tent. Skate loaning will be available throughout the ice skating season at the hours listed below.

- Fridays 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- Saturday 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm
- Sunday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Loop, established in 2025, is a multi-use skate and recreational trail at LaSalle Landing waterfront in LaSalle. The trail is part of the redevelopment of the waterfront area located along the Heritage Detroit River and is located at 1010 Front Road, next to the Event Centre. The Loop, Rotary Circle, and Event Centre have transformed the area into a vibrant, year-round destination. For more details on this evolving project visit the LaSalle Landing Waterfront web page.

From December to February, The Loop becomes a stunning ice skating trail, thanks to advanced ice plant technology that keeps the surface frozen. Glide along the trail and enjoy the crisp winter air in a picturesque setting.

The ice is open daily from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm! Bundle up and enjoy a fun outdoor skating experience with family and friends.

When the weather warms up, The Loop transitions into a concrete recreational trail ideal for walking, jogging, biking, and inline/roller skating. It’s the perfect spot to stay active outdoors.

The Loop is approximately 250 metres in length
The trail loop took approximately 400 cubic meters of concrete, which equates to about 50 truckloads.
There are approximately 21 km of refrigeration piping in the concrete loop. For a comparison, this would stretch down Laurier Drive, from the LaSalle Boat Ramp to Howard Avenue, and back to the boat ramp.
There are approximately 31 metric tons of reinforcing steel to be placed in the concrete loop. This is equivalent to the weight of about 31 fully mature Clydesdale horses.
The concrete loop is supported by about 76 foundations/footings installed perpendicular to the trail, 4.8 m apart.

The Loop at LaSalle Landing is open daily from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm.

The Loop is unsupervised. Users assume full risks or injury. The Town does not accept responsibility for any related risks or injury. The User is responsible for ensuring they are fit to participate in physical activity.
Children aged 10 and under must be supervised by a parent/guardian.
Follow the direction of all Users. Slower Users should remain on the right side of The Loop.
The condition of The Loop is dependent on weather conditions and may vary.
The Town is not responsible for any damaged, lost, or stolen items while using The Loop.
In the event of an emergency call 9-1-1.
No horseplay or games such as tag or races. Users are required to always conduct themselves properly.
Using alcohol or drugs on Town property is not permitted. By-law 7775 prohibits smoking or vaping in any public park.

The Winter Loop is flooded on a regular basis. The schedule will be adjusted daily to accommodate weather, staffing, and use. The condition of the ice may be inconsistent. Unscheduled closures may occur without advance notice based on weather and ice conditions.
Users must wear ice skates.
Stay off the ice while the ice resurfacer is in operation or maintenance is taking place.
CSA approved helmets and mittens/gloves are strongly recommended.
Carrying of children, including baby carriers, is not permitted on the ice surface.

Skate aids and skate sleds are allowed. Chairs, pylons etc. are not allowed.
Shoes, pets, strollers, toboggans, sticks, pucks and balls etc. are not allowed. The Winter Loop is for leisure skating. Hockey, speed skating, and/or figure skating is not permitted.
No food or drink permitted on or around the ice surface.

The Summer Loop can be used for bicycling, walking, jogging, strollers, wheelchairs, inline skating, etc.
CSA approved helmets are required for anyone up to 18 years old for bicycling, and strongly recommended for anyone 19 years old and older. CSA approved helmets are strongly recommended for inline skating and/or roller skating.

Four barrier-free restrooms are available in the building next to The Loop.

The Loop has accessible parking with paved, level pathways.

Parking is available in a public lot south of The Loop (behind TD Bank), and at the Event Centre by entering the parking lot from Bouffard Road. Additional parking spaces are available at the Riverdance building.

Dogs are welcome at LaSalle Landing and on The Loop (except when ice is installed). Animals should be on a leash and under the control of their owner or handler at all times.

The grounds are fully paved and level to ensure ease of access for persons with mobility devices and parents with strollers.
